Movie Review: Big Hero Six

As a movie lover, I was a little scared watching Big Hero Six. I really hadn’t seen many commercials for it, or heard much about it, so I wasn’t sure what the movie was going to be about. After watching it, I fell in love.

Big Hero Six is not your ordinary movie, where it ends with love in happily ever after. It ends with true friendship, which is much greater. As the movie starts you meet Hiro Hamada, who is a smart kid in the wrong crowd. He loves robot fighting, but after messing with the wrong man, gets his brother, Tadashi, thrown in jail. Because of this Tadashi decides to help Hiro out and inspire him. Tadashi knows Hiro is a smart boy, so he brings him to his school, San Fransokyo Institute of Technolog. Once Hiro has met all of Tadashi’s nerdy friends, he is introduced to someone, or something very important to the movie, Baymax. He is not your typical robot. He was designed as a health robot, so every time someone says “ow,” Baymax blows up and helps them out.

After Hiro decides he wants to attend Tadashi’s school, he sets out to create an invention to wow the school director, Professor Callaghan. After doing this, a fire breaks out, and Tadashi loses his life. Through this hard time, Hiro becomes best friends with Baymax and Tadashi’s friends from school. They all set out together using their science gifts to stop an evil villain who stole Hiro’s invention. In the end, Baymax and Tadashi’s friends come together with Hiro and create a superhero clan to help save people in remembrance of Tadashi.

Not only was this movie action packed, but also it had some great humor in it. My favorite part was Hiro and Baymax’s secret handshake. Everytime they did it, Baymax always makes a funny sound, which tops it off. Big Hero Six earned five stars from me and is now one of my top favorite movies. Through the power of friendship and sacrifice, anything can happen.
