Boeding Buzz: Anchorman II

Opinion by: Jake Boeding
With Anchorman being one of the most recognizable comedy movies of past years, it looks to “continue the legend,” and the success, with Anchorman 2. Simply put: it does not. With comedy that fails to entertain and an almost non-existent plot, Anchorman 2 does not fulfill any expectations.
Seriously, this movie isn’t funny at all. It almost feels as if the jokes used are recycled and the physical humor is just thrown in at random times to distract the viewer from the fact that this film isn’t funny. Will Ferrell’s typical yelling gets old and begins to hurt your eardrums after just 5 minutes and Steve Carrell’s character of Brick is quick to annoy.
Not only are the jokes and acting bad, but the plot follows suit. With an exponential slope plot line, the viewer will be left at the end wondering how the movie even started. This is because Anchorman 2 is just embarrassingly bad. The only part in this movie worth watching is the 10-15 minute fight scene between national news stations, and also non-news stations. That scene got some chuckles out of me, but the rest of the movie did not. That being said it’s hard to even give this movie the rating of LEAVE IT BE, because frankly, it doesn’t even deserve that. So, I guess I’ll give it a rating of: LIGHT THIS ON FIRE.
