I know H&M is nothing new to my lovely readers, but they’ve been making some impressive decisions since their Versace collection hit stores in the winter. Just a few weeks ago I had been watching E! And saw a promo for some swanky red carpet event and an actress I’d never seen before had claimed to be wearing an H&M Garden Collection couture dress and this automatically meant I had to start researching. Organic AND couture? This woman obviously had to be a liar; but to my surprise there was an entire collection that was launched under the radar in March 2012.
H&M’s Garden Collection is something their designers had collaborated on for a couple of years before they decided to fully launch the eco-friendly clothes. These pieces are for the environmentally conscious fashionista, hippie chic if you will. The color schemes and fun florals are sweet and feminine just in time for summer. The collection is for women, teens, children and babies so the whole family can sport these environmentally sustainable threads from a night on the town or a day out on that dream beach vacation you have planned. (Yes, the fake one in your head counts too. Staycation schmaycation, right?)
The line includes; dresses, tops, blazers, shorts and pants, skirts, and gowns that are all factory produced and made out of PET bottles, textile waste, recycled polyester and organic linen. As far as the organic label goes, many have speculated that the clothing is only made of 30% genetic modified cotton. Regardless of the great “is it natural?” debate all of these items are available online and in store all for under $60, so it’s worth giving a try.
