In my opinion, there are at least five different stores I would’ve chose to replace Abercrombie and Fitch in Zona Rosa just off the top of my head. But instead, the store made popular in the early 90s made a comeback and I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t tell you what this means to us as shoppers.
Let’s start with why Wet Seal is a good idea; I have to admit they run some awesome deals. As a girl on a budget I really appreciate when a store, especially just opening is already being so generous to their customers. Every time I walk past the store or have looked online there’s always some sort of buy one get one, get five for $20, etc. So if you’re overhauling your wardrobe completely definitely go here to stock up on essentials.
Wet seal claims to offer the most current fashions for teens, but I beg to differ. The new arrivals are extremely over priced for average things, like a graphic tee that you could pick up at a Charolette Russe for like $10. I feel like they recycle everyone else’s style and I’m not a fan of that. A big part of fashion is being yourself and having that individuality. When I walked into wet seal all I saw was a bunch of girls buying the same identical articles of clothing to try and follow the trends they’re producing as ‘hot’ for nothing cheaper than $15.
As far as accessories go, I’m still sort of on the fence. The selection in store I really wasn’t impressed with, it reminded me of the cutesy pre-teeny jewelry you could pick up at Claire’s across the street, and it looked like duplicating what they had and charging more. Online is a better place to look, you have a little bit larger of a selection and sometimes earrings and things are on sale for $1.
Although swimsuits aren’t exactly in season, I still like to look for mine ahead of time so when I went and checked out their selection I was pleasantly surprised. They had a small line of them, but it still had a lot of variety. I can never find one pieces that are cute and flattering but they carry them at a decent price. Their tops and bottoms are a little simple but they would be really easy to mix and match with whatever else you find during the summer.
Last but not least, shoes. If you’ve been keeping up with me you already know how excited I get over shoes, especially when they’re a steal. Going in the store, it looked like a snow boot factory and after examining their quality I wouldn’t shell out my cash. Make an investment in good winter boots instead of buying a pair that will only be temporary. You might end up paying an extra 20 dollars but it’s worth the investment. The online shopping on the other hand might give you a bit more of a selection but whether or not the shoes are in season is questionable.
I’m usually one to give rave reviews and get excited about new shopping here but I personally was disappointed with the store, so I hope my point of view can help you plan out your next shopping trip if you decide to stop by Wet Seal.
Amen fashion,
Madisson
