Junior year stats
Junior Deng Tong played as a wide receiver from a Midwest high school, Oak Park High School. During his junior season, he had 37 receptions for 691 receiving yards and 354 rushing yards, finishing with 10 touchdowns and 1,231 all-purpose yards.
Athletic weapon and combine performance
Tong uses his speed to get past defenders. He ran a 4.33 40-yard dash at the UA Next All-America Camp Series, which was the fastest time recorded in the entire camp series that year. His speed and high vertical jump helped him stand out and earned him an invitation to the UA Next All-America Game.
Recruitment and offers
His athletic ability helped him earn Division 1 offers from University of Kansas, University of Missouri, Mississippi State University, Western Illinois University, Missouri State University, Miami University, University of South Dakota, Iowa State University, and Texas State University. During the recruiting process, he earned a 4-star rating and committed to KU.
Senior year goal
Tong said his goal for senior year is “improving stats from last year.” He also mentioned the three schools he still hopes will offer him are University of Texas at Austin, Ohio State University, and Louisiana State University.
When asked if he could break his 4.33 40-yard dash record, he responded, “Yes, most certainly.”
Tong is currently a 4-star recruit, but he believes earning a 5th star would require “1,000 plus receiving yards.”
His overall stat goals are 1,300 receiving yards, 12 touchdowns, and 80 targets.
No I in Team
Oak Park High School finished the season with a 2–8 record, but Tong said he hopes the team can have a winning record during his senior year.
