$2 million roof replacement comes this year

As you may have noticed there are orange cones and construction barriers on the roof. This is an ongoing construction project to replace the 25-year-old roof. It will be the third roof the building has ever had.

You may have seen the strange spots on some of the ceilings of second floor classrooms. That’s water damage, and it is the main reason the roof is being replaced.

The new roof is going to cost $2 million of the recently approved $20 million district bond budget.

According to Principal Mark Maus, OP wouldn’t have been able to get by without a new roof for long.

”It’s a lot like a car,” activities director Casey Vokolek said. “It’s nice to get new rims or tinted windows, but you need to get the transmission fixed first.”
