Q&A by: Shelby Hart
As exhibitions are presented this week and the beginning of next week, the exhibitions may be seen in the main auditorium for the first time. Exhibitions will also be completed closer together. Northmen News caught up with research teacher Joanne Baxter to discuss the change.
Northmen News: Why are the exhibitions being held in the auditorium this year?
Joanne Baxter: “They’re in the auditorium so the forum matches the prestige of the exhibition, similar to [what] other high schools [do].”
NN: When and how was this decision made?
JB: “We’ve tried to get it changed for the last few years but there’s not a lot of space so it’s just been challenging to schedule. They used to be down in the library but scheduling wasn’t easy.”
NN: What kind of impact does that have on the exhibition?
JB: “It makes it more professional and a bigger deal. It gives more recognition to the students.”
NN: Will the auditorium continue be the venue for the coming years?
JB: “We hope so.”
NN: Why are the exhibitions being condensed into one week?
JB: “That’s the way it’s done in other buildings. It becomes more of a celebration and [the students] finish before EOC and AP testing time.”
