NorthmenNews: How often do you meet with parents?
Lori Dameron: The College Coffees happen on the first Fridays of every month and we talk about different topics.
NN: What was the importance of the Friday, April 6 meeting?
LD: It was about the summer programs and summer school. We talked about making a resume and the times in summer where you can build on your resume when you don’t have time to during the school year.
NN: Do you think you got your point across?
LD: There was a great turn out. The parents asked good questions which means people were listening.
NN: How many parents came to the meeting?
LD: About 24 [parents].
NN: What can parents do to get more involved with their child’s education?
LD: Powerschool is a very useful tool. It helps parents stay in tune. Attending as many school events as they can. When their kids are in extracurricular parents come to more things because they want to be involved too.
