Review: ‘Guts’ by Olivia Rodrigo

Former Disney star turned pop star Olivia Rodrigo, released her second highly anticipated studio album “Guts” on Saturday, Sept. 8. Her first album “Sour” came out May 21, 2021, featuring classic teen heartbreak stories and soon became a hit winning the Best Pop Vocal Album and Pop Solo Performance in the Grammys.

Similar to her first album, “Guts” is another teen heartbreak album many fans are coming to love and adore Rodrigo for. But this time is a bit different from the first release Rodrigo did.

One being the anger and the language used in the music, some lyrics being, “I’m planning out my wedding with some guy I’m never marrying.”  Soon the lyrics were not only popular with teens relating to the lyrics but also a trend on almost every social media screaming the lyrics and using it to relate to an experience they had.

Soon after the already popular release a tour was launched. The tour planned 77 shows across North America and Europe and is already completely sold out. Soon creating a cap at only four tickets per person.

My personal favorite song from the album is “Lacy” mostly because of the idealism it talks about which I personally feel is super popular in my generation but a close second for me is “Get him back” because of the detail into the bad boyfriend’s realm and how sometimes we feel the need to fix them as people to make them love us as humans.

But overall, I think this album is fun and relatable to so many teens everywhere around the world. I think it’s good for a good cry but you can also jam out in the car with your girls listening to this. Which is my favorite part that it can fit into every moment and day.
