Miss OP cancels due to snowstorm headed toward NKC

News by: Jake Boeding

The icy snow and harsh weather conditions have struck again. The result?  Numerous school events have been canceled and among them is Miss OP.  Scheduled to take place on 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, the contest looked to continue off the success of last year’s pageant and raise money for the Special Olympics.  Despite the cancelation, the event will still happen at a later date.

“We plan on putting it (Miss OP) in January and search for a Friday that won’t conflict with games,” StuCo president and head coordinator of the event Kelli Reichert said.

It was a tough decision to be made, but StuCo is standing by its decision to postpone.

“The weather is unfortunate,” Reichert said, “but we made the right decision to postpone it.  Since we can reschedule it, there is no reason to risk the safety of the participants and the audience.”

Even though the evening event was postponed, the commemorative assembly of Miss OP will start in a few minutes and should conclude with the students leaving the school into the harsh cold.
