As the bell rings, it signifies the beginning of a new school year.
From welcoming in the fresh blood and welcoming back the returning classes to walking these halls for the last time, Oak Park was happy to be receiving students again. No matter what grade you are in, there is always a period of adjustment going from summer break to school.
For some the transition is easy, for others there is a struggle.
Freshman Seth Morrison said, “Finding my classes and switching so often is difficult.”
Many students can relate because this was a struggle everyone goes through when learning how to navigate high school.
“The thing I like the most is being able to see some of my old friends and also make new ones,” Morrison said.
One of the best things about having a large school is the diverse people you meet and the people you never thought you would reconnect with.
“For my first week ever here, I think it went great,” junior Madison Foster said. “I’ve met so many people.”
Foster also said, “The hardest part for me is getting around the building.”
Foster mentioned how their old school was not as modern as it is here. This can be overlooked by many students who only ever attended school here.
Senior Emma Arnone had her last first day and felt bitter sweet.
“It is interesting because I’m sad to leave here but excited to continue into the next chapter of my life,” Arnone said. “I haven’t had much problems this year other than having to change a few classes around. I also don’t have many of my old friends in my classes, but I like to think of it as a blank slate to make new ones.”
