No matter the situation, band continues to play

As Northmen know, all of spring activities cancelled. The band had musicians working on Solos/Ensembles all semester who would have performed at the MSHSAA District Solo/Ensemble Festival this month with the hope of moving on to State.

As a performing opportunity, band students and their director Mallory Mahon decided to share OP Band “Tiny Desk Recitals,” featuring a different OP Band student every day.

“To give you a little bit of extra background on these solos/ensembles, this is an elective opportunity for our kids, and none of it is prepared during the school day (unless they came in for AR),” Mahon wrote in a faculty email. “Students would come in to work before/after school to get help from me, but largely learned on their own. Most of our students have been working on these since winter break.”

Enjoy the performances!
