Afraid you’re going to be bored this summer? Well, don’t fret! Enjoy these family-friendly area activities!

  1. National War World 1 Museum: If you’re wanting to get a little background on our history in War, take a trip to our Museum downtown. Some of the attractions include field of poppies, glass bridge, and of course the liberty tower. It stands tall over the whole city, and the view you will see is worth coming to visit! There is an extra cost which is, only 5 dollars to get in the tower! A two-day pass is 16 dollars for an adult.
  2. Kansas City Zoo: This is one of the main attractions in Kansas City. It’s fun for all especially during the summer because they have all of the animals out! Some of the attractions at the zoo include the penguin exhibit where you get to go under the ground where you watch the penguins swim and sometimes they have feeding times and you can see them feast! They also have the Sky Safari, which is like a ski lift that takes you on an over top view of the zoo and all the animals! It relaxing and unique to see the animals closer and in a different view. If you’re not feeling the sky view, you can always enjoy the boat ride they have. 14.50 dollars is the cost for adults for the zoo; 11.50 dollars for children, but if you are a resident of Jackson and Clay counties it is 7.00 dollars for adults and 6.00 dollars for children.
  3. Never seen a play or haven’t seen one in a while? Well you’re in luck! Kansas City has it’s on Starlight Theatre. You can go online to check out what plays, or bands are happening when and enjoy a nice theatrical time!
  4. Feeling like you don’t have any nice? Have a shopping addiction? Country Club Plaza is just for you! This is downtown and includes so many top brand stores for you to shop your heart out. Some of the stores are Athleta, Anthropologie, The Coach store, Eddie Bauer, H&M, Kendra Scott, North Face, Forever 21, Sephora, Sperry, Victoria Secret, Vineyard Vines, and many more.
  5. If that hot summer day is just getting to you there is plenty of water parks to visit that are close! Ever heard of Schlitterbahn? Well you won’t regret going here, it is so much and you can even get your tan on! This place includes a massive wave pool that loops around the park, many water slides, and even a pool with a tiki hut where you can quench your thirst and take a bite of something delicious. The cost to go here is 51.00 dollars but definitely worth the price!
