Growing up most of us read the “Dog Man” book, have we thought of if there was a movie? Maybe some of us have, but now there really is a movie.
This movie may sound exciting but may disappoint. The “Dog Man” movie really captures the main plot of the books which is probably the reason for its fast-paced movie.
In “Dog Man,” it starts from the beginning, how Dog Man was created. Then quickly shifts over to the half man half dog capturing the antagonist. The movie is based off the book and even though it’s fast paced it doesn’t feel as exciting watching the movie as it does when reading the book.
The movie was mainly a comedic genre, which is great for kids and exactly like the book, but the pace of the movie made it feel like more. This movie is best recommended for kids because even though it’s fast paced it’s great for them even if they haven’t read the book. People who have read the book will get a quick recap but, in the movie, they have a particular scene that kids won’t understand unless they’ve read the book.
I didn’t expect much from this movie, but even though I didn’t expect good animation, I loved the animation used. Instead of using the cartoony animation they used a more 3D animation which made it look like the characters popped out the book. However, there were some things that could have been better like, how the movie quickly shifts from book to book to make the first movie leaving us wondering, will there be a second?
Overall, the movie is good, but while the movie provides laughs and nostalgia for fans, the book remains better due to its fuller storytelling.
