Stores buzz with excitement from young men and women as the homecoming season opens. Many people plan to attend the homecoming dance Saturday, Oct. 5.
Homecoming can be expensive, tickets cost $15, plus attire can cost anywhere from $50 to $500. This is just the basics; some people go to dinner beforehand or get a treat afterwards.
“I’m excited to go to homecoming because it gets me out of the house,” junior Grant Ritz said.
He plans on wearing a gray-collared shirt, black pants, and a black and red tie that matches his date’s dress. All in all, everything cost $200.
Ritz plans to eat at the Red Door Grill in Liberty before homecoming. The average price of the meals there are $25 and up. He is also going to be taking pictures at Kansas City Missouri Temple.
“I’m excited to go to homecoming because I get to go with my friends, and I get to look pretty,” junior Olivia Banuelos-Angulo said.
She saved money to buy her dress, which is plum colored and sparkly. The dress cost her $75, but she also had to save money for when she goes to dinner beforehand. For her makeup she is going to wear blush, eyeshadow, and lipstick.
“I love going to homecoming because I like getting dressed up,” junior Cassidy King said.
King has a job which she used to pay for her dress, which is black and has a tulle skirt. She plans on wearing goth style makeup. She is going with her boyfriend Bryce Bolinger and her friend. She will be eating and taking pictures beforehand.
