At the Meadowbrook Elementary School Fall Festival, seventh grader Camila Cerecedo shows friendly competition with fifth grader Rebeca Rodriguez. "Let's see who can make it in the circle first," Cerecedo called. Rodriguez quickly jumped in saying, "I'm going to make it in first." In the end, Cerecedo successfully tossed the ring into the circle.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, NKC Schools student Ryker Nakahodo begins to shovel his driveway by throwing it atop a pile. He did all this in the hope that shoveling snow would earn some money. He also didn't want to change into winter gear because wanted to get out there and do a quick job. “Because I don't want my Mom to slip and die in the car or Silva [our neighbor]," Nakahodo said.

COMMUNITY HISTORY Junior James Mueller works on an assignment regarding the current project in AP Government. The goal is to create an interactive way for citizens to learn about the Declaration of Independence. “The possibility of the project genuinely being created and put somewhere in the community is fun,” Mueller said.
AP Government Challenges Creativity
On Thursday, Dec. 5, junior Luke Robinett plays his bass looking toward his director Erick Theno. This is the symphonic orchestra, the elite of string instruments. They played “Plowing Through the Snow” at this part of their Christmas concert. Which is why there’s a Santa hat. “I thought we did really good,” Robinett said. “We’ve been working a lot on intonation, recently, which really, I think really helped. And then I think just kind of the work we’ve put in, we’ve all been on the same page, just working hard.”
Symphonic Orchestra Plays Holiday Concert
In room 250, the American Sign Language Club meets on Tuesday, Nov. 14, to learn the rest of the alphabet, how to introduce themselves, and basic greetings. Freshman Lilyana Guisinger introduces herself in ASL to freshman Eloise Camarda. Guisinger and Camarda were here for marketing but decided to join in learning. “The first thing we learned is class was ‘Hello, my name is, and then fingerspell your name,” sponsor Robin Marsh said.
