When I went to watch “Terrifier” I had no prior knowledge of the film. I had no clue that it even existed, let alone that I would be watching it. But I did, sat in my room with one of my best friends and buckled up for the ride. I, myself, am an avid horror movie watcher so I was super excited to watch.
Now there’s some things to take into consideration, this is a VERY gory movie, and I do not enjoy gore. However the way they incorporated it into the movie was great, it didn’t feel like a cheesy movie just filled with gore for the shock factor.
The movie starts off using a scene from the future, where there’s an interview of one of the survivors of the main antagonist, Art the Clown. The interview consists of the interviewee talking about her frightful experiences, and how she barely escaped death. After that the scene switches to show two drunken girls dressed up for Halloween. And as the scene continues, Art the Clown shows up. Now since that interview was shown I was quite worried for these girls, I mean this guy obviously kills people so I’m sure I know what the fate of these girls will be. As the movie progresses it gets more and more violent, having multiple chase scenes that had me on the edge of my seat.
The conclusion of this movie is great, doesn’t drag on for too long and wraps it up nicely.
My only complaint for this movie is that the acting isn’t the greatest. Art the Clown has an amazing actor but some of the other characters just aren’t the best. Acting aside, you can tell the actor for Art (David Thornton) really loved his role, the way he carried himself through the film showed how he was having fun while doing a great job. Honestly, I feel like Thornton carried the whole movie, making his character a memorable one.
Overall the film accomplishes what it wanted to, scaring and shocking the audience. It’s gory, and makes you uncomfortable while watching. I highly recommend it, as it does an amazing job at making you feel like the movie is real.
