“Space Marine 2,” released on Sept. 9, 2024, is based in the Warhammer 40k universe and is filled with numerous files of lore which contains with different planets, dimensions, aliens, demons, etc.
“Space Marine 2” takes place about 100 years from the first game as you’re put into the boots of the main protagonist from the last game, Captain Titus, who was an Ultramarine until he was revoked because he was accused of being a traitor. The space marines are big, armored soldiers who have been genetically engineered, unlike most soldiers, who are regular humans.
There are 20 space marine legions, and you’re in death watch legion where they carry out most of the most dangerous missions as in the first mission of the game has you deploy a virus bomb. When you accomplish this, they reward your bravery and dedication, allowing you to rejoin the Ultramarines.
The gameplay is stunning as it’s filled with different environmental and colorful aspects as the games graphics make it look unbelievably real. The game itself is a third-person shooter and slasher feels amazing as there’s also abilities you can use as it all just makes you feel unstoppable as its gruesome filled with executions that allow you to tear your enemies apart. It’s filled with a variety of different enemies you’ll never get bored of as each species has four types of enemies, Minoris, Majoris, Extremis, and Terminus.
It has a single-player campaign, multi-player campaign, PvP, and PvE, as the game takes more than nine hours to beat and the game allows you to choose your classes from six: sniper, heavy, bulwark, tactical, assault, and vanguard marine; and the max level for each class is level 25.
When I played the game, I enjoyed it and was intrigued in the 40k games and stories even more. The gameplay was smooth for a game that looked so real and colorful which blew my mind, while the actual game felt good as it teaches you the basics of the game allowing you to dodge, counter, stomp, slash, etc.
If you’ve played the first game you wouldn’t be lost in the story of the second one, but even if you haven’t played the first “Space Marine,” “Space Marine 2” does an amazing job telling the lore behind the main character. After the first mission you get put into the actual game as you are put in a trio of you and two NPCs that can be switched with friends allowing three people to play the campaign with you as you have fun mowing down enemiess using different guns and equipment and protecting each other’s backs.
The cost of the game depends what edition you want; standard is $69.99, gold is $99.99 ultra is $109.99 and is available on both Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC. This game would be defiantly top 5 games of 2024.
