Another school year starts off with registration, a time to see friends again since last semester and also see how everyone looks different with a tan. The usual routine of signing papers, handing out cash to this and that, only this year they held it at a different location from last year.
In 2009, registration was held in the Big Gym, enough room for lines to grow. This year it was held in the cafeteria, perhaps a smaller perimeter, people went threw the same stuff health forms, enrollment forms, picture ID and infamous fee line. Lines seemed extra long this year on Aug. 3, Perhaps if they had more help for enrollment papers as well as the fee line, it would have been nicer. Also, for the first time ever temperature was warm in the cafeteria. Held against one’s will, stuck in the room until everything got stamped on the scavenger list they hand out.
Aug. 4, quieter then the day before, still got crowded a few times, tables were just as anxious to get people at their tables. Another interesting thing was how tables were out in the hall way so when people came in they can plan out things they want to join or support and get the yearbook. Everything was closer, new families did not have to find a yellow brick road to get to the Big gym and then go to the hall way for the tables, with everything looking alike how ever would they get out?
Though it appears everyone managed with the new way of things, so what if it took up time, not like had anything better to do. School starting only next two weeks, and the history of Oak Park continuing another great year, with a twisted start.
