The end of October is celebrated by the beloved holiday Halloween. One of the most recognizable parts of Halloween is putting on a costume and going door to door asking for candy. But when are you too old to dress up? When does it become weird to trick-or treat?
Many people resonate with the idea that once someone enters young adulthood it is socially unacceptable to trick-or-treat.
“I think people should not trick or treat after they are 11. I feel like it is weird to go around in costumes asking for candy after you start middle school,” junior Madigan Barry said. “It is fine to walk around with your family on Halloween, but it is weird to dress up. I like staying home and just handing out the candy instead.”
Contrary to the belief that middle school is a good stopping place, others believe there isn’t any specific age someone should stop, only when they decide they don’t want to anymore.
“I think 30 would be a good age to stop because you’ll be settling down and getting your life together,” junior Axel Figge said. “I know I’ll probably be doing it until I’m at least 24. I still have as much fun as I did when I was younger, although I wish people would stay out longer.”
In the end, it is up to each individual on when to stop dressing up and going out. Halloween is about having fun, and there is no age limit on fun.
