Get ready for a chilling evening of music at Oak Park High School as the orchestra takes the stage for its annual Halloween concert at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. Each ensemble will be playing two to three pieces of Halloween-themed music to set the spooky atmosphere for the fall season.
These concerts are popular among students and their families, with musicians and teachers dressing up in costumes to enhance the Halloween spirit. Orchestra teacher Henry Bullock has been conducting non-stop rehearsals to ensure this concert is a frightful delight that’ll scare the life out of the audience.
“I feel like if I practice a bit more I’ll be ready to perform these songs,” chamber orchestra junior Jane Mganga said.
One main focal point of these concerts is how the orchestras all dress up in costumes for the Halloween season, which adds to the charm of watching these students play. This also includes the orchestra teachers dressing up as well.
“I’m planning on dressing up as Mr. Theno, it should give everyone quite the laugh,” Bullock said.
Seeing all the different costumes these people choose should make this concert quite an interesting one.
“I’m dressing up as Balloon Boy,” junior Nicole Lopez said.
Fans enjoy the tradition as well.
Junior Hunter Harmon said, “Personally it’s very fun to see everybody dress up while playing spooky-themed music for their concert. I hope they continue this throughout the years.”
