Wrestling demonstrates during assembly

In an assembly leading to fall break, students celebrated many fall accomplishments both on the field and in classrooms.

From football’s third-ever undefeated regular season and impressive post season run, to softball’s wins and more. Then the wrestling team took to the mat in a demonstration. Coach Lucas Vincent said he’d like to see more students at their duals and tournaments this winter.

On Wednesday, Jan. 8, NKC Schools student Ryker Nakahodo begins to shovel his driveway by throwing it atop a pile. He did all this in the hope that shoveling snow would earn some money. He also didn't want to change into winter gear because wanted to get out there and do a quick job. “Because I don't want my Mom to slip and die in the car or Silva [our neighbor]," Nakahodo said.

"I think that we have a great group of girls and we're working very hard. I think that we're gonna have a great year. with lots of results." The Oakies played their first regular season game Monday, Nov. 25 against Raytown and won the game 69-30.

Hey! I’m Brynlee, I’m 17 and I’m a senior (class of 2024). I love journalism and it’s the only classes I'm taking at Oak Park this year, I also take sociology, marketing and criminal justice at MCC part time! I’ve loved journalism since I was in seventh grade and started helping with the school yearbook. I love football; I have Chiefs season tickets and attend every home game possible!!
