This year, many famous artists dropped new albums. Zach Bryan, Olivia Rodrigo, Travis Scott, Daniel Caesar, the list goes on and on. Meanwhile artists like Drake and Taylor Swift have announced upcoming album drops for the remainder of the year.
Music is very diverse and known throughout the entire world., Cit’s shown that children and adolescents typically spend 2.5 hours a day listening to music, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Combining that stat with the 1,800-plus people at Oak Park, means there is a lot of music being played on a daily basis. Most people agree they like listening to music, and with over 1,000 different genres not everyone could possibly listen to the same thing right?
“I really liked Peso Pluma’s new album,” sophomore Paola Melendez said. “It’s not my favorite album of his but it’s still really good. And I think the album came out in like June. I would die to see him in concert. I’ve been asking my parents for months.”
While some people are left wishing for concert tickets others already have tickets at the ready for upcoming concerts.
“There’ve been so many good albums this year not gonna lie,” sophomore Corbin Barnhill said. “I definitely think ‘Utopia’ by Travis Scott is really good. I’m actually going to his concert next week at the T-Mobile Center; I’m so excited for that I cannot wait. Tyler, the creator’s always fire and I’m pretty sure he released an album at the beginning of the year. Not his best but whatever. Oh and Drake’s new album coming up, that’s going to be too good I swear. I like all of ‘em really, it was a good year for albums.”
These two share a very different taste in music but both mentioned that they enjoy a wide variety of music.
“I really like country music so I think Zach Bryan’s new album is the best one ever,” junior Autumn Farrell said. “I also think it’s my favorite album period, like of all time. I think there was maybe one song on there I didn’t like and there’s 16 songs on it so that’s definitely saying something. Morgan Wallen’s album ‘One Thing at a Time’ was good too. I don’t know why he keeps putting the same songs on his albums though. Like ‘You Proof’ is on two of his albums and it’s not like he changed the words or anything, it’s just weird. That album is ridiculously long too. I wanna say there’s like 30 songs on that album.”
All of these artists stream their songs for free on Spotify and YouTube music.
