ENHS: Chastain loves working in theater
Improving along way, sophomore Kaleighan Chastain made a name for herself in the theater department.
In her second year in theater, she’s already involved so much. She’s a part of the improv team, plus she does sound crew for all productions such as “The Addams Family,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “In the Heights,” and the most recent play “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.”
Chastain isn’t just a techie, she also dabbles in a bit of acting as well. She played Margret for “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes;” and she played Kyle in a student-written play, written by senior Kenna Foreman. The play was called “Suspension.”. She currently plays a therapist in another One Act written by grade Alexis Owens called “Clown College.”
She plans to keep pursuing this, but she’d like to stay behind the scenes and keep running sound. She also plans to take the advance theater class, Theater III/IV.
Chastain has a lot of support behind her corner when it comes to theater. She said she loves being a part of a loving department she can call her family.
If she could do anything outside of theater, it would be volleyball.
“Volleyball. I used to play for about five years. It was a lot of fun. I played competitively, but unfortunately I can’t and that’s how I found theater,” said Chastain.
Not only does Chastain enjoy theater, but her peers along with the new theater teacher enjoy having her.
“She’s such a great worker. She has the can-do attitude. Kaleighan has this energy that makes you feel like you can do anything you put your mind to,” said theater teacher Matthew Ashpaugh.
Some of the seniors in the theater department feel safe leaving the sound to her.
“I was worried about next year, but after being around her and teaching her all she needs to know, I believe the department will do just fine,” said senior Joe Lunares.
