New/Noteworthy Music: Songs, Albums you should check out
Here are some tracks and albums worth listening to:
Singles
Bruno Mars “24K Magic”- Another fun track from Mars that sounds like it’s straight out of the 80’s. A feel-good song that will put a smile on your face.
Charli XCX feat. Lil Yachty “After The Afterparty”- A party song that could’ve been on the radio in the 2000s and should be on the radio today- I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually does.
Dragonette “Royal Blues”- Though their last popular song was “Hello”, this band has still been making music. This song also sounds very retro and will get stuck in your head. Their name might not be familiar but they’re worth listening to.
Albums
Lady Gaga “Joanne”- Lady Gaga reinvents herself again and combines elements of rock, folk, and country into her pop sound. A very raw and personal album. Best Songs: “Hey Girl” feat. Florence Welch, “Dancin’ in Circles”, “Million Reasons”.
Alicia Keys “HERE”- Keys’ vocals shine on her bare bones new album. Featuring plenty of acoustic guitar and piano, it has a very homey feel. The interludes are also a nice, personal touch. Best Songs: “She Don’t Really Care_1 Luv”, “Girl Can’t Be Herself”, “More Than We Know”.
Empire of the Sun “Two Vines”- The dance duo return after their 2008 song “Walking on a Dream” went viral this year. The album is lush with plenty of grooves that would sound perfect in Forever 21. It’s definitely worth checking out. Best Songs: “Friends”, “Way To Go”, “ZZZ”.
