Fall League Preps Varsity Basketball
On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays boys basketball works on preseason and conditioning play. They do drills and run some plays and learn some plays and scrimmage.
As of today, boys varsity is 4-0 in the fall league. This year coach Zane Tanner wishes to bring the winning mentality to the school and promote student athletes.
On weekdays, everyone was on the track. And it isn’t easy at all. There was a lot of running on the hot track. Players ran a couple 200s and four 400s. While doing hard stretches at the end.
Every Sunday, the coaches wished to see the boys varsity in game situations.
Tanner said he was not worried about who is being the best player, “we are a team that wants to win, we aren’t worried about the best.”
Prior to joining OP this year, Tanner and coach Brennan Scanlon both coached at Smith Cotton High School. Their team went 18-9, then lost in the district semifinals.
The coaches said they felt the players they had last year were good. But thinks these OP guys were younger than the ones they coached last year.
This season, Tanner and Scanlon said they wish to bring wins and hope a district championship or at least improve from last season.
