Homecoming Queen Announced
Saturday, Sept. 17, at the halftime show of Oak Park’s homecoming game against Ruskin High School, the candidates for Homecoming queen were driven around the field and then lined up to reveal who would take the crown.
After each candidate was announced, senior Mahasin Tutu was crowned Homecoming queen by 2015 Homecoming queen Landon Patterson. Spectators burst into excited cheers and screaming as Tutu’s name was announced over the loudspeakers.
Of being chosen as a candidate, Tutu said, “I didn’t anticipate it, it was just something that happened to me.”
Tutu hoped to live up to former candidates and queens.
“[2015 graduate] Orie Agbaji is my idol,” she said, and also mentioned alumnaes Landon Patterson and Kayley Breault. “I want to embody them.”
