Supporting Others
There are lots of different clubs and activities at Oak Park that have fundraisers. From football and cheerleading to band and choir. A lot of these fundraisers are held at the beginning of the year to pay for uniforms and new equipment. Many different things are sold, the softball team sold shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, while choir sold cookie dough and orchestra sold chocolate.
Junior Rachelle Burket, a softball player said the hardest part of fundraising was getting people to buy what’s being sold.
To overcome this freshman Bailee Wildman, in choir, went outside of friends and family to ask more people.
This paid off. The softball team alone made more than $1,000.
Many people are pleased to buy things from friends to help them out.
“I’m very happy to get to support my friends” said senior Alia Schotten.
