Tennis Outlook
The 2014 tennis season was a bit of a disappointment to say the least. With only one win as a team last season after being conference champs in 2013 the Oak Park tennis team took a huge step back. Four varsity players not returning from the 2013 season left a young and inexperienced team to replace them. The one of the only few bright spots from a year ago was when the doubles team of Landon Thomas and David Genau received 3rd place in the Truman Tournament. This season the Northmen are only losing their #1 player Landon Thomas. Though he was their best player they don’t have to have last years JV players play Varsity this year. Through the first two weeks of practice it is very noticeable how much players have improved on their game in all aspects. As of right now the top three players entering match play that begins after spring break will be David Genau, Alex Stump, and Huso Rizvanovic. Match play officially starts on Tuesday March 24 against Platte County at home. Come out and support your Oak Park tennis team as they compete for the first time this season.
