An Out of The Park Idea

The Sadie Hawkins Dance is quickly approaching on Saturday, Feb. 7, which means it’s time for the ladies to build up their confidence, dig out their inner creativity and ask a boy to escort them to the big event.

In preparing for the dance, it seems the most time and energy is spent on organizing the perfect way to ask a date to go with you. From delicious treats to impressive stunts, the month before Sadie is filled with crazy surprises for those special boys.

Seniors Sammi Shafar and Sophia Contreras used their boyfriends’ love of baseball to their advantage.

During fourth block this past Friday, they asked their psychology teacher Matt Reynolds if they could run down to the baseball field to set up their scene. Reynolds said they could, but made sure to give his opinion on the situation and high school girls need to go all out to invite a boy to a dance.

“It’s a bunch of touchy, feely crap. It proves how egocentric our society is.”

The girls thought differently and remained persistent. They made sure every last baseball was in its place and their posters were in perfect color.

When the school bell rang that day, the boys, seniors Joey Scott and Dalton Cassity, walked down to the field for their daily practice and spotted their girls standing around home plate with posters in their hands.

The question is, did they say yes? Why yes, of course! Those girls hit a home run that day.
