Trendy and Tasty with Sam Belcourt: West Side Local
blog: by: Sam Belcourt
With A quirky (in a good way) atmosphere this restaurant serves local produce and unique options upon each visit. Located at 1663 Summit St, Kansas City, MO 64108, it’s a not so hidden paradise. The nice thing about a place like this is that the menu isn’t insane in size so it doesn’t take a person very long to order.
I start with an appetizer I haven’t had in years: devilled eggs. The eggs come out sprinkled with seasonings each topped with a little bit of a homemade dressing that almost seems to intensify the texture of the egg, the zest is spicy which I enjoyed, but it’s not for everyone.
My main course I order French toast, basic? Not quite. Topped with homemade syrup and dusted to perfection with powdered sugar this takes French toast to a whole new level.
Served with a side of ‘shatto ‘butter, it goes well with the French toast but tastes good by itself too. This place is fancier; I paid around $20.00 for the meal (not including tax or tip.) But I’d say it’s worth every penny. Overall every time I have been here the service has been fantastic, the people are personable and they do a good job of keeping the bar scene separate from the dining room.
Special occasions or a late night on the town West Side Local will surprise you with its tasty menu.
