After going to nationals last year, the debate and forensics team hopes for another nationally ranked team.
To prepare, the team is working hard inside and outside of class.
“We are already writing cases and keeping up with political events,” said Vice President, junior, Lauren Mills.
The team not only wants to do just as well as least year, but they want to do even better.
“Last year we won sweepstakes trophies, conference for Competitive Drama, we placed a lot, and [senior] Dominic [Hernandez] and [2013 graduate] TyQuan [Baskin] went to nationals, but this year we are trying to do a lot better,” Mills said.
Though getting ready for competitions is a large amount of work and takes away many hours of free time, the team believes in the end it is worth it when you get to hold that first place trophy in your hand.
“My favorite part is competing at the competitions and winning medals individually and with my duo partner,” said treasurer, junior, Brad Taylor.
Both Brad and Lauren agree that the team has the talent to do just as well this year.
“I think we’re going to do really good, we have a lot of talent and lots of returning letterman,” Mills said.
The team is excited for a successful and fun year.
