Oak Park volleyball has served up an excellent season so far. I got the chance to watch the team’s home opener against Fort Osage on August 31. The Northmen dominated the net for most of the evening with great play from Kim Riechert in the center of the net. OP stood tall for the duration of both matches and blocked numerous net balls. The net wasn’t the only aspect of the game that Oak Park won. The girls also won the service battle. It wasn’t uncommon for the team to serve 6-7 points straight during the match. OP kept several points going through great saves by the girls. The Northmen won in 2 sets by the scores of 25-12 and 25-15. The team has an exciting road ahead of them and will look to do some serious damage in districts and conference.
