When I say “homework is too much,” I don’t mean one assignment I could easily do in 30 minutes or so, I am talking about when it’s 2 a.m. and I’m still doing homework.
If I have free time during class, I usually work on any homework I have. In school, we are pushed to take honors, AP classes, and college classes, we are also pushed to be in sports and extracurricular activities. We go to school for seven hours hours a day and most sports and after school activities add up to three additional hours a day.
Many teenagers also have a job or they chores they have to do at home and those take a lot of time.
I think certain homework assignments should have a couple class periods before it’s due, when it’s a huge project and when it’s due next class it becomes really stressful, especially when I have other homework assignments from other classes.
I know I am not the only one who becomes stressed out when we get “too much” homework and we can’t keep up.
I like to have all As, but when it gets to the point where it’s 2 a.m. and I still have a lot more to do on a project I end up going to sleep because I am so tired to the point where I’m falling asleep.
Homework is “too much” when students don’t want to come to school anymore; and it’s “too much” when someone is up until 2 a.m.
I think homework is “too much” when I just stare at my backpack dreading to pull out my folders because I know it is going to be a very long night of stressing, trying to get my homework done, and eventually just passing out surrounded by papers and waking up to a mess and a dead laptop.
