Spooky Scarers Run People into Walls

What is fall without a little bit of scare? Every year West Bottoms and Worlds of Fun have haunted houses during the month of October. During this year students are able to become a scarers for these haunted houses.

fullsizerenderLiberty North senior Emily Williamson is one of those scarers.

“I have a love/ hate relationship with haunt. I do like working at haunt even though it can be extremely tiring. But seeing people scream and run, that makes coming into work worth it,” said Williamson.

Applying to work at a WOF haunted house isn’t as easy as it seems. There is a long process.

“Well the application was long, but it was extremely easy to fill out online,” said Williamson. “After people look over your application you move onto the interview. My interview process, we went in as a group and talked about ourselves. Then we got into smaller groups and my group had to answer the question: If we could make a haunted house and put it anywhere in the park, what would it be? What would the characters look/act like? And what’s the house like?”

“The weirdest one I’ve had so far is, I scared someone. So bad he came up and growled in my face for like 10 minutes. Straight and he had vampire teeth in,” said Williamson.

Not only she had weird experiences she has also had some funny ones.

“I made a grown man so scared, he ran into the wall and then he lost his WOF water bottle,” Williamson said.

But is working at WOF during haunt worth it?

“If you don’t mind giving up your weekends and working long shifts and your sore the next day, then yes, it’s so much fun and you get paid to have fun.”
