On Monday, January 14, Megan Jefferies hosted a wheelchair basketball fundraiser to raise money for Special Olympics as part of the Miss OP competition. Northmen News caught up with Jeffries to discuss her unique fundraiser.
Northmen News: How did you think of the idea for wheelchair basketball?
Megan Jeffries: “Me and my mom were throwing out ideas at each other and we thought that would be something people would have fun with so we rolled with it.”
NN: How was the turnout?
MJ: “I was really happy with the turnout. I think if we had more time, it would’ve been better, but it went good.”
NN: How did you get the word out?
MJ: “I put the event on Facebook and on the Axe and the word of mouth with my friends.”
