Q&A by: Megan Jeffries
On Friday, October 5, senior Maddie Marx was crowned homecoming queen at the football game. Northmen News caught up with Marx to discuss her experience.
Northmen News: How did it feel to be nominated for homecoming queen?
Maddie Marx: “It was a big thrill to be nominated. I wasn’t told by my parents and I had no idea that I’d be nominated. I was a little nervous about finding the perfect dress and heels.”
Northmen News: How did having all of the nominees come from Clardy impact the experience?
MM: “Having all the girls come from Clardy made the experience like a mini reunion. It was hilarious to reminisce about all of our old teachers and school days. It was probably the greatest way to ring in senior year.”
NN: What was your favorite part of the entire experience?
MM: “My favorite part by far was the assembly. All of the girls looked gorgeous and I loved listening to their bios.”
NN: What went through your mind when you were announced as queen?
MM: “The night I was crowned was one of the most exciting and freezing nights of my life. When I heard my name announced, I didn’t know any other way to react than to cry. So I did that, and a lot of it. I was so convinced that it would be one of the other girls getting crowned so when I heard the first syllable of my name, I almost fell over. We also won the game that night, so it could not have been any more perfect.”
