Coming off a victory against Liberty North the C-team boy’s soccer team prepared for a rivalry match at home against Staley. This was boys’ second time playing Staley. Captains sophomore Husref Rizvanovic and sophomore Devon Fuller lead their team well with good communication amongst the players.
“We passed a lot better than we usually do and we communicated better,” said freshman Conner “Tiny-Tim” Tomlin.
The game kicked off to a good start with a defensive kick from Fuller, sending the ball all the way to the other side of the field to freshman Boyblue “George” Tardy who ran the ball up to Staley’s defense.
The team played a lot of offense during the game. Sophomore Isaiah Alvarez and Rizvanovic made good “pass and go’s” to bring the ball past Staley’s defense. The most memorable play made on the field was the fake out then cross by sophomore Edgar Lopez to Alvarez who put the ball in the net. There were many shots taken at the goal throughout the game.
Co-Captain Fuller said, “We should’ve have more goals than just one.”
The team defeated Staley 1-0, but even with the win the team is always looking to improve their game.
Sophomore Zach Stump said, “We did alright. We still need to talk more, we didn’t do that good in the first half, but in the end we pulled it together.”
Sohpomore Christopher Pitre said, “We did pretty good and we won!”
Modesty is the best policy; credit from the players was given to the Staley team. But none the less, the team was proud of their victory over a competitive rival.
Rizvanovic was at a loss of words when he said, “We did great.”
