On Tuesday, Nov. 15, an ample of girls, and one boy, from all grades, gather in the west mezzanine to participate in the cheer clinic held by the varsity cheerleaders and coach Megan Ives and coach Lisa Elder. Above, they all are stretching to get ready for what’s to come in being an Oak Park cheerleader.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, Ives has the participants go through hand motions that often come up in the many cheers performed at games and events. They did a lot of these motions the first day of their clinic, which will become helpful at try outs on Friday, Nov. 18.
Tuesday, Nov. 15, Elder continues to lead the girls in all of the hand motions. This took up a lot time in the beginning of their first day of the cheer clinic.
Varsity cheerleaders sophomore Maria Blake and junior Christina Fields lead the partakers in the dynamics over and over again to help them perfect. These moves are a very important aspect of the cheers seen time and time again at school events.
