This year, I’m happy to observe the fact that teachers are utilizing the Mini-Notes in relation to textbooks. I mean, who wants to carry around a minimum of five textbooks all the time? No way, definitely not me.
Sure, there’s lockers but, honestly, some of us don’t have the time to go from the Choir room to a locker upstairs and in the extreme back corner all the way back to the Health room. I know I need exercise, but not that much. Not to mention the horrendous traffic consuming our hallways.
So, yes, of course carrying around one piece of technology vs. five large textbooks would definitely save a few bills in back-related doctor visits. However, the wonderful little silver squares we carry around aren’t all that great. I think I grew gray hair just watching my screen go from Windows 2003 to the login. Rumors have been circling about that the district is purchasing new technology for next year (one can only hope), however, all of that green wasted on the cute little Mini’s? Way to be money-smart.
Personally, I think it’s just a lost cause. I don’t enjoy breaking my back on the days I have my core classes, but if it means saving twenty precious minutes of my life waiting for my Mini to log in, it’s a doctor bill I will definitely pay. My solution, excluding class work, is to simply download or access the online version of textbooks on my faster, more efficient personal computer.
Although I’m sure any solution avoiding the use of the slowest technology ever is a glorious one.
