Oak Street swings first place

This weekend Oak Street traveled to Sedalia, Mo., to compete in the annual Sedalia State Fair Choir Competition. Performing songs such as “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend,” “Centuries,” “Mission Impossible,” “Moon Dance,” “Shut up and Dance with Me,” “Photograph” and “Immortals,” the group swept the competition, taking First Place in its division, Best Vocals and Overall Highest Score.

Oak Street definitely represented Oak Park well.

Senior Landon Patterson, who has been on the team for three years, said “It felt like all of the hard work finally paid off.”

It did; and it showed through their performance.

Wish them luck on their upcoming competitions. They will travel to Pleasant Hill on Saturday, Jan. 23, and after that they will then move onto Northwest on Saturday, Feb. 13.

So, if you see an Oak Street student in the hall make sure to congratulate them.
