Going to Harvard

Going to Harvard Graduate School of Education was such an honor.

They had contacted me back in September after my homecoming win. They were super compelled by my story and thought it would be perfect for a new speaker series they starting called, Out Reach, sponsored by the Queer Ed group.

They paid for the flights, hotel and meals. I felt like such a celebrity, but the best part was getting to speak at the school and getting to spread my message.

I talked all about my journey of over coming and how it hasn’t always been easy. The whole point was to educate and inspire others.

It was such a nerve-racking experience, but when I got started it went by so quick and I felt so comfortable and it felt great seeing I was helping others.

Then there was a Q&A after and that went really well too.  It was awesome to hear everyone’s questions and clear the air on certain topics and give answers to everyone.

Followed by the that was a recepetion where we could eat and everyone could meet me, ask more questions and take pictures. This part was my favorite. I got to really connect with everyone and give them awesome advice.

The trip was only two days, so it did go by very quickly, but it was such an unforgettable experience. Boston was so beautiful and the campus was even more breathtaking.

You can now watch the whole speech and Q&A on YouTube. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QmHEhVbK9c
