Unconditional love for “Unconditional”

Entertainment by: Olivia Eissler

Wet eyes, laughing smile, full heart.  This is everything that came rushing to me when the movie credits of Unconditional rolled on by.  I never thought a movie could be so sad but so inspiring at the same time.  After watching Unconditional, I want to go out and get involved with children in my community who don’t know the love of having a father or don’t even know what love is.

Unconditional is a heart-felt movie about Samantha Crawford who illustrates and writes storybooks.  She is living the perfect life with her husband and her horses at their ranch.  But soon everything turns upside down for her when her husband is found shot in an alley.

When a depressed Samantha returns to the alley her husband was shot in, she tries to shoot herself.   Just as she is going to pull the trigger, she hears a cry for help.  Rushing to see whom the cry for help is from, she discovers it is a little boy, Macon, shielding his sister, Keisha, who got hit by a car.

These two children play a huge part in Samantha’s life and lead her to reunite with her long lost best friend Joe Bradford.  As Samantha and Joe catch up on the time they have lost, Samantha starts helping Joe out with children in his under-resourced neighborhood.

When Samantha invites all of the children to her farm for a sleepover, she learns that both of Joe’s kidneys have failed and he has to do dialysis every day.  When everyone wakes up the next morning, they find Joe crumpled on the ground.  As Joe fights for his life, the children and Samantha tell him how much he has meant to each one of them because of the unconditional love he has shown them.  Through this whole movie you learn about how much you can inspire people.

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone who has a heart for helping others or just needs an inspirational story.  From this movie I learned that no matter what you’re going through, there is always someone going through worse that needs your love.
