On Friday, Sept. 14, varsity and JV softball played Raytown Varsity and JV teams at Oak Park. Both Lady Oakie teams were victorius; varsity won 18-3, and JV won 14-1.
Senior Jennifer Stock runs to catch a ball. Stock has played for 14 years and has played for KC Pride for two years. “Our team played good,” she said. “It took us a while to get started but once we got to 13-0 we started to hit pretty good.”
Senior Laura Ashlock runs toward home base to strike out an opponent. Ashlock has played softball for 12 years and has been playing for Victory for two years. “It went really well,” Ashlock said. “ We strung together as a team.”
Junior Presley Weddle watches and waits for her teammate to hit the ball. This is Weddle’s second year playing for the team. “We’ve lost to them before but we knew we could’ve won. So I’m excited to show everyone that we can [beat them],” Weddle said.
Junior Samantha Hopkins hits a groundstroke. Hopkins has played softball for Oak Park for two years. “I think that we have a very good chance of winning. We’ll put up a good fight, if anything,” Hopkins said.
